Intensive English
Empowering students with skills and confidence for mainstream successAt QSI International School of Dushanbe, every student is given the opportunity to succeed, and all are expected to flourish in their learning environment. For students whose English proficiency is below the expected level for their age, thriving in a mainstream classroom can present challenges. Our Intensive English (IE) Program is designed to bridge this gap.
The IE Program supports students aged 6 to 13 by creating an accelerated learning environment that builds proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Smaller class sizes allow teachers to provide individualized instruction tailored to each learner’s needs, ensuring students gain the skills and confidence required to transition successfully into age-appropriate mainstream classes.
In 2024, the IE Program introduced a new curriculum grounded in the pillars of Structured Literacy—an evidence-based approach that supports the development of foundational literacy skills. The curriculum emphasizes:
-
Phonological awareness, decoding, and encoding
-
Reading comprehension and vocabulary development
-
Writing skills and the acquisition of background knowledge
-
Strong oral language development through speaking and listening practice
All IE teachers have received specialized training and are equipped with high-quality resources to support student growth. The program’s ultimate goal is to empower students to succeed across all areas of the curriculum, building both language proficiency and learner confidence.
