Middle School

QSID 12 and 13 Year Old Program

Our two-year program is designed to challenge and equip our 12 and 13-year-old students for the demands of Secondary school. With a comprehensive curriculum covering Literature, Writing, Mathematics, Science (alternating between Earth Science and Life Science), Cultural Studies, Art, Technology, and Physical Education, students engage in a rich educational experience.

In small class settings, teachers personalize instruction to accommodate students' individual academic progress. Some students demonstrate advanced proficiency in Mathematics, allowing them to pursue Secondary level Algebra for graduation credit during their 13-year-old year.

As part of our World Languages requirement, students have the opportunity to study Russian, German, and French, while Tajik language classes are offered after school for Tajik citizens. Intensive English instruction is available for students seeking to master the language.

Beyond academics, our program offers a variety of after-school activities and sports, catering to diverse interests such as Finger Knitting, Fuse Dance, Soccer, Volleyball, and Drama.

By the end of their second year in this program, our 12 and 13-year-olds emerge feeling mentally, emotionally, and academically equipped for success in their Secondary classes.

The 4Cs: Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving

At the heart of our middle school program lies a focus on 21st-century skills, essential for navigating an ever-evolving world. By prioritizing the development of these skills, we empower our students to thrive in the face of rapid change. Through dynamic project-based learning experiences, our students actively engage with authentic, real-world challenges, fostering creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability.

Middle School is that wonderful, crazy no man's land between childhood and young adulthood.  I love teaching these students because they are so full of energy and enthusiasm.  Our program's goal is to give our middle school students the academic skills they need, and motivate them to take responsibility for their own learning.
